General Information:	Nitric oxide (NO) is a free radical which plays an important role as mediator in different biological processes like vasorelaxation, neurotransmission, antimicrobial activity, anti-tumour-activity. NO is produced by mediation of nitric oxide synthase and can be induced by a combination of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and different cytokines (Gamma-Interferon, Tumour Necrosis Factor, Interleukin-1 and -2). NOS catalyses the formation of Citrullin and NO from Arginine. Presently three different isoforms of NOS are known: neuronal NOS (nNos or bNOS, NOS 1), endothelial NOS (eNOS or NOS 3) as well as inducible NOS (iNOS).

Special properties:	The polyclonal antibody to eNOS is well suited for the detection of eNOS (NOS 3) in cells, cell extracts and tissue slices.

Pre-treatment:	Pre-treatment of paraffin sections with antigen Unmasking Fluid C or G at 100°C may be advantageous.

Incubation time:	IHC(P) 60 min at RT or 2-8°C over night

Secondary reagents:	Biotinylated anti-Rabbit IgG (Art. No. ZU101) in combination with Streptavidin:HRPO (Art. No. ZU054) or Streptavidin:AP (Art. No. ZU051) and a suitable substrate.
