| Presentation: | Cell culture supernatant containing 0.09% sodium azide as preservative |
| Immunogen: | Human mamma carcinoma cell line PMC-42 |
| Specificity: | 45 kDa Cytokeratin |
| Species Specificity: | Human and other mammalians |
| General Information: | Cytokeratins are a group of water insoluble filament proteins, which are constituents of the cytoskeleton of epidermal cells and other epithelial cells. By gel electrophoretic analysis up to now 20 different cytokeratins have been characterized. They have been divided into basic and acid subfamilies and may also be distinguished by their molecular weights and their tissue distribution. The most frequently used nomenclature has been published by R. Moll et al. (1982). |
| Special properties: | This Cytokeratin 18 antibody reacts with most adenocarcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. It has been used used for the differentiation between adenocarcinoma and mesothelioma on the one hand side (positive reaction) and squamous epithelial carcinoma and non-epithelial tumours on the other side (CK18 negativ). |
