General Information:Cytokeratins are a group of water insoluble filament proteins, which are constituents of the cytoskeleton of epidermal cells and other epithelial cells. By gel electrophoretic analysis up to now 20 different cytokeratins have been characterized. They have been divided into basic and acid subfamilies and may also be distinguished by their molecular weights and their tissue distribution. The most frequently used nomenclature has been published by R. Moll et al. (1982).

Special properties:CK1 is produced in the epidermis especially in Stratum spinosum and Stratum granulosum. Usually it occurs together with CK10 (KRT10). Mutations of the respective genes are associated with idiopathic ichthyosiform erythroderma.

Positive control:Skin, liver

Pre-treatment:Pre-treatment of formaldehyde-fixed tissue with proteinase E (Unmasking Fluid P, Art. No. DE110), citrate buffer (Art. No. DE000) or Unmasking Fluid G (Art. No. DE007).

Applications:IHC(C,P), WB, ELISA

Incubation time:60 min at RT or over night at 2-8°C

Secondary reagents:We recommend the use of BIOLOGO's Universal Staining System DAB (Art. No. DA005) or AEC (Art.-No. AE005), if higher sensitivity is required VECTASTAIN Elite ABC (Art. No. PK-6102) or ABC AP (Art. No. AK-5002) systems are applicable.

Storage:2-8°C
