CA520: Calretinin

Price: 120 € / 5 ml

Polyclonal Antibodies

Origin:Rabbit

Isotype:Ig

Clone:polyclonal

Format:liquid

Quantity:5 ml

Working concentration:ready to use

Presentation:Antibody solution in stabilized phosphate buffer containing 0.09% sodium azide**. The volume is sufficient for at least 50 immunohistochemical stainings (100 µl working solution/test). For dilution use appropriate diluent containing enzyme-free proteins and sufficient preservative (e.g. Art. No. PU002).

Immunogen:Recombinant purified human calretinin

Specificity:Calretinin, no cross-reactivity with related calcium binding proteins like calbindin (D28k) and calmodulin

Species Specificity:Human, mouse, monkey, rat, others not determined

General Information:Calretinin is a calcium-binding Protein, that is family related to calmodulin and calbindin. It is found in groups of neurons in the cortex, retina and in the spinal cord (1). More recent studies show that it is an excellent marker of mesothelioma in the lung (2, 3, 4, 5).

Special properties:The antibody is intended for the immunohistochemical detection of calretinin in neurons. Further more it may be used as an aid in differential diagnosis of pleural mesothelioma. In epitheloid mesothelioma this marker regularly stains positive, in sarcomatous mesothelioma and carcinoma it turns positive occasionally, while it is constantly negative in sarcoma (4,5)

Positive control:Cortex and spinal cord

Pre-treatment:Antigen unmasking after formaldehyde fixation is not required, however heat treatment with unmasking fluid G (glycol based, Art. No. DE007) may improve staining intensity.

Applications:The antibody is suitable for immunohistochemistry on cryostat and paraffin sections.

Incubation time:60 min at RT (or 2-8°C over night)

Secondary reagents:We recommend the VECTASTAIN Elite ABC Kit Rabbit IgG (Art. No. PK-6101) or BioPrime Universal Staining Kits (Art. No. AE005 and DA005).

Storage:2-8°C

Notes:
** The preservative sodium azide is known to be poisonous and potentially hazardous to health. It should be handled only by trained staff. Despite of the product's low azide concentration it must be handled with care. Dispose according to regional rules!

BIOLOGO antibodies are intended for in vitro research use only. They must not be used for clinical diagnostics and not for in vivo experiments in humans or animals.
