General Information:	Amyloidosis describes a disease during which fibrillary proteins are secreted into the extracellular space of different organs. Histological stainings demonstrate eosinophilic deposits, which progressively displace surrounding parenchymatous tissues, resulting in the loss of organ function and eventually death. Chronic inflammation (type AA-amyloidosis) and plasma cell dyscrasia (type AL-amyloidosis) are the most frequent forms of amyloidosis occurring e.g. in kidney and rectal tissue. In neighbourhood of hemodialysis more frequently cases of amyloidosis of the B2M type have been reported.

Special properties:	The antibody REU-86.2 detects amyloid type AA. It may be used for the detection of protein deposits (which are not easily detected by HE staining), and will help distinguishing from amyloid types AL and B2M. The antibody may also be used for screening purposes in kidney and rectal biopsies.

Positive control:	Kidney with amyloid deposits

Pre-treatment:	No protease pre-treatment required, but microwave treatment may intensify staining. We refer to BIOLOGO's Unmasking Fluid G (Art. No. DE007).

Incubation time:	60 min at RT

Secondary reagents:	We recommend the use of BIOLOGO's Universal Staining System DAB (Art. No. DA005) or AEC (Art.-No. AE005), if higher sensitivity is required VECTASTAIN Elite ABC (Art. No. PK-6102) or ABC AP (Art. No. AK-5002) systems are applicable.
